ABOUT US

Kooking with Kie & Kai is an alluring cooking experience which allows locals and visitors to learn how to create tasty dishes, in a class style setting- without the need for a traditional kitchen.

Kie (the chef) & Kai (the host) entertain guests with their mobile kitchens either inside a guest’s home or outdoors, with carefully curated menus covering an array of cuisines.

The concept allows guests to fully participate by preparing a three-course meal themselves, learn the importance of plating, while ensuring their meal provides a wow factor and is appealing for social media posting. Ingredients are sourced locally when available and include locally grown and harvested foods inspired by the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s new Food Harvest Almanac.

Kooking with Kie & Kai is the only experience of its kind in Bermuda- perfect for a memorable celebration, date night, team building exercise or a visitor experience.

Meet Kie

THE CHEF

Kieshé Simmons is a Red Seal Certified Chef with nine years of experience, commencing her career as an apprentice at the Fairmont Southampton at the tender age of seventeen. Kieshé has always had a passion for cooking from as long as she can remember and has been cooking “all her life.” From cooking in numerous hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and most recently launching a catering business- she is no stranger to a kitchen! Kieshé was the 2013 Bermuda Rising Chef of the Year- competing against eleven opponents- just two years into her career. Her favorite items to cook range from nouvelle to local modern cuisine. Kieshé looks forward to giving her best to every class- ensuring each class is personalized to the audiences needs and the recipes can be used for years to come.

Meet Kai

THE HOST

Jakai Franks is no stranger to three things: throwing a good event, a cooking class and being the life of the party! In his early thirties Jakai discovered cooking classes in his travels to Greece and instantly loved how easy it was to learn and understand culture through food. He has since taken cooking classes in Mexico, Amsterdam, Italy and USA-- and has no plans of stopping in his future travels. Jakai would consider himself a food and alcohol enthusiast who has a love for fine dining and trying new meals and cuisines. From start to finish, Jakai will ensure that you are entertained, comfortable and engaged-- whether it be with games, drinks, a good playlist or taking a group picture!
